South Korea and Uzbekistan signed a series of documents

Uzbekistan, Tashkent, 23 August /Trend corr. D. Azizov/ Seven intergovernmental documents signed on Tuesday during the first day of state visit of President Lee Myung-bak in Uzbekistan, Trend reported.

On the first day of the visit and held talks, the presidents of Uzbekistan and Korea issued a joint statement.

The statement noted that the visit of the president of Korea in Uzbekistan was the logical continuation of the practice of regular exchange of visits at high level and demonstrates the mutual firm political will to further reinforce the dynamism of bilateral cooperation.

Heads of Uzbekistan and Korea emphasized that the Uzbek-Korean trade-economic, investment, financial and technical cooperation is an important factor in strengthening bilateral relations and have broad prospects.

The parties recognized the importance of early implementation of a joint project to build a gasochemical complex on the Ustyurt Surgil deposit, which is implemented jointly with a consortium of Korean companies.

The Korean side commended the efforts of Uzbekistan on ensuring stability in the region of Central Asia, and reaffirmed the importance of stability and development in the Central Asian region as a whole.

The parties also noted the need to denuclearise Korean Peninsula in accordance with the UN Security Council resolutions and made su resume the six-party talks on North Korea's nuclear program for peaceful solution of existing problems through diplomatic means.

The heads of state also stressed the interest in the early stabilization of the situation in Afghanistan and stressed the importance of international projects and programs, post-conflict socio-economic reconstruction of Afghanistan.

On the first day of the visit of President Lee Myung-bak were also signed an intergovernmental Uzbek-Korean agreement on temporary employment of citizens of one state on the territory of another State, a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministries of Economy of Uzbekistan and Korea about partnership in the field of industrial and energy cooperation.

In addition, the National Holding Company (NHC) "Uzbekneftegaz" has signed four contracts with Korean companies to build Ustyurt Gas Chemical Complex (MCC) on the field Surgil (Ustyurt region) in Uzbekistan worth 2, 6 billion.
