Senate's regular plenary meeting opens in Uzbekistan

The 6th plenary meeting of the Senate - the Oliy Majlis (upper chamber of parliament) has today kicked off in Uzbekistan, the parliament told Trend correspondent.
The agenda of the Senate’s plenary meeting includes consideration of a number of laws directed at reforming and liberalization of all spheres of political, social and economic life, democratic renovation and formation of civil society in the country.
In particular, the meeting will consider amendments to the laws "On Bankruptcy" and "On licensing of certain activities", "On Railway Transport", "On limiting distribution and consumption of alcohol and tobacco products" that envisage support and development of business, ensuring security of railroad transportation and public health.
The law "On the detention during the criminal proceedings", submitted to the Senate for consideration, will have a significant importance in reforming the judicial and legal sphere, as well as ensuring law and order.
Senators will also consider a number of international agreements reached by the republic’s leadership for their ratification.
Along with it, the Senate’s regular meeting will consider and discuss a report of the Central Bank’s chairman on the bank’s activity in 2010, on changing the staff of the Supreme Court and the Higher Economic Court of Uzbekistan.
