President of Turkmenistan to meet with the heads of Tajikistan and Russia in Dushanbe

Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov in the opening in Dushanbe summit of CIS leaders will hold several bilateral meetings, including with President Emomali Rakhmon and Russian President Dmitry Medvedev.

As reported on Saturday press service of the Turkmen government, the talks will focus on "priority issues of Turkmen-Tajik and Turkmen-Russian relations, based on the age-old ties of friendship and good neighborliness, and now published a new level."
At the same time, the commentary states that "the participation of President of Turkmenistan in the CIS summit held in the year of the 20th anniversary of the Commonwealth, will be a new step in the development of a constructive dialogue meeting the national priorities as well as common interests."

The information also quoted the head of Turkmenistan's government since the last meeting held yesterday in Ashgabat.

"As an associate member of the Commonwealth, our country will continue to develop the traditional friendly relations and fruitful cooperation both at the international level, and overall format of the CIS", - he said.

Since 2005, Turkmenistan is an associate member of CIS, due to international obligations arising from the status of permanent neutrality.

At this meeting, the Republic of Tajikistan, which is now the presidency of the Commonwealth, will give the presidency to Turkmenistan.

Turkmenistan has frequently been the venue for important meetings and forums of the CIS.

In November 2007, in Ashgabat hosted the meeting of the Council of CIS Heads of Government, and in April 2009 - Meeting of the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Commonwealth.

In November 2009, in Ashgabat hosted the first forum of agricultural producers of CIS countries.

In the spring of this year was held in Ashgabat 65th meeting of the Council of Border Troops Commanders of the CIS countries.
