Georgian and Azerbaijani railways create Eurasian transport corridor

The Georgian and Azerbaijani railways create the Eurasian transport corridor at the expense of the "Caspian Sea - Black Sea" trunk railway. It will be the shortest route linking Central Asia with Europe.
The Georgian Railways reported that the company implements the strategic project "Rapid Railway". It provides for complete modernizing the Georgian central railway and constructing a new line through the Rikoti Pass.
"Azerbaijan Railways" launched a modernization and rehabilitation program within the state development plan. It provides for complete modernizing the railway infrastructure.
The operations, envisaged by the program, have been already launched. The rolling stock is planned to be renovated. The car fleet is planned to be increased by 50 new electric locomotives and 4,000 carriages.
The rapid railway project and the modernization and rehabilitation program of the Azerbaijani railways, are important for both countries, as the key participants of the transport corridor.
