BRUNEI, INDONESIA TO PARTICIPATE IN INTERNATIONAL GONG FESTIVAL 2011
KUCHING (Malaysia), Sept 12 (Bernama) -- The International Gong Festival
2011 to be held at the Redeems centre in Kampung Apar near here on Nov 18-20
will be participated by Brunei and Indonesia apart from host Sarawak as well as
State National Culture and Arts Department acting director Saini Lihi said
the event, organised by the department with the cooperation of the Tourism
Ministry, was a potential platform for local and international music specialists
and enthusiasts to establish a network.
He told a news conference that documents from the festival could serve as
reference material and knowledge resource for the community and succeeding
generations.
The event is listed in the national tourism calendar.
Present at the press conference was Association of Research and Development
Movement of Singai Sarawak (Redeems) president Peter Nansian who is also
Environment and Public Health Assistant Minister.
Saini said cultural arts performance, exhibitions by departments and
agencies, weaving and sale of handicrafts were among the activities at the
festival expected to be launched by Chief Minister Abdul Taib Mahmud on
Nov 19.
