Formula 1 drivers participate in Abu Dhabi Charity Football match

Abu Dhabi, Sept 29, 2011 (WAM) - Under the patronage of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, DM Cube - a UAE-based design, corporate branding communications and sports event management company - brings you the inaugural Pilots Football Charity Event in Abu Dhabi, scheduled to take place at Mohammed bin Zayed Stadium in Al Jazeera Sports Club on November 9, 2011.
Following 30 years of success to date, the annual Nazionale Piloti Football Charity Event celebrates this special anniversary with a monumental premier - arriving for the first time in the UAE and the Middle East.
Trading the race track for a football pitch, some of the world's most renowned Formula 1 drivers are geared to battle sporting professionals and VIPs from across the region. This year in Abu Dhabi, spectators will get a chance to thrill over Grand Prix drivers, including Michael Schumacher, Fernando Alonso and Sebastian Vettel, as part of the Nazionale Piloti team who will face off against international football stars based in the region.
Starting at 7 pm, the match - which will be broadcast live by the Abu Dhabi Sports Channel and Rai Sports 2 in Italian, Spanish, German and Russian - will follow FIFA rules, with two halves of 45 minutes each and an interval of 15 minutes. The winning team will be awarded the ‘Abu Dhabi Trophy' at a post-match Gala Dinner held on the evening of November 9 at Yas Links Golf Club, Yas Island, Abu Dhabi with all players present.
Since its inception, the event has been a complete success due to the sports figures, stars and sponsors who have taken away from their commitments to provide an entertaining venue for onlookers to revel in as they raise funds for a worthy cause. Fifty percent of the proceeds generated from the Pilots Football Charity Event in Abu Dhabi will be divided between the Biomedic Research Foundation and the Veneto Cancer Research Institute in Italy, and the other fifty percent will go to a local charity. - Emirates News Agency, WAM
