Turkmenistan, Ashgabat, Oct.28 / Trend H.Hasanov /
President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhammadov received the head of the China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) Zhou Jiping, the Turkmen government said.
During the conversation "a mutual desire to strengthen interaction based on principles of equality, respect for mutual interests and mutual benefit" was stressed.
The report says that views were exchanged on partnerships in the energy sector, "the result of which are important joint projects, including the grand project of the century - the construction of the longest transnational gas pipeline from Turkmenistan to China in Eurasia".
Turkmen gas exports to the Chinese market first began by commissioning international gas pipeline passing through Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan in 2009. The pipeline was built by CNPC, which has a license for extraction of raw materials on the Turkmen right bank of Amu Darya.
As the Chinese media outlets reported, China is expected to receive 17 billion cubic meters of gas from the Central Asia in 2011. Moreover, Hong Kong Special Administrative Region may also receive access to imports of the Turkmen fuel in 2012.
About 40 enterprises with the Chinese capital operate in Turkmenistan and about 60 investment projects involving Chinese companies are registered in this country.
