Azerbaijani President: Turkic nations’ media can promote common cultural and spiritual values

The strategic importance of relations among the Turkic-speaking peoples has increased, and form and content of our relations have fundamentally updated in the contemporary world which sees intensive globalization processes, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said in his message of greetings to participants of the Second Media Forum of Turkic-speaking states, which has opened in Baku today.
Azerbaijani Presidential Administration Social and Political Department Chief Ali Hasanov read out the message of greetings to the forum participants.
President Aliyev congratulated the participants on the occasion of the Second Media Forum and noted that the activities of the Turkic-speaking states within the Union of Turkic-speaking states, Cooperation Council of Turkic-speaking states, the Parliamentary Assembly and other organizations, established in the common interest, had a great impact on strengthening the position and authority of these states in the international arena along with the strengthening of political, economic and cultural relations.
"Institutes of civil society, media outlets, science and art representatives along with the official authorities, play a special role in the development of relations among nations. Influence of media authorities, involved in production and transmission of information, is steadily rising on the processes ongoing in the contemporary world, which is witnessing more and more deepening integration processes," the message of greetings says.
President Aliyev said the media outlets of the Turkic-speaking states will contribute to the timely and complete dissemination of information on the approximation of states and societies, promotion of common moral and spiritual values, as well as various aspects of modern development.
"I believe that today's Forum, which brings together journalists of reputable media authorities of brotherly countries and peoples, will identify new opportunities and resources that will contribute to further expansion of relations, formation of a single information space of the Turkic-speaking peoples and organization of efficient interaction," President Aliyev said in his message.
The Second Media Forum of Turkic-Speaking States and Communities started in Baku today.
The event is organized by the Press Council and the Fund of State Support to the Development of Mass Media under the President of Azerbaijan.
Attending the forum are representatives of Azerbaijan, Turkey, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Northern Cyprus, Russian Federation's republics of Tuva, Sakha, Khakasiya, Kabardin-Balkar, Karachay-Cherkes, Tatarstan, Bashkordistan, Ukraine's Crimea Autonomous region, Moldova's Gagauz Autonomous Territory, European Turkish communities.
