Doc on Persian Gulf crowned best film at Cinéma Vérité festival

TEHRAN,Nov. 14 (MNA) -- “Persian Gulf” won the Best Feature Documentary award at the closing ceremony of the Cinéma Vérité festival in Tehran on Saturday. The film, which has been recently awarded at the Iran Cinema Celebration, also won the Best Historical Documentary Award of the festival. Director Orod Attarpur and his assistant Saeid Malih received the award for research and studies conducted for the film. The selected films were announced during the closing ceremony attended by cultural figures Deputy Culture Minister for Cinematic Affairs Javad Shamaqdari on Saturday. “Mashti Esmaeil” by Mehdi Kiasari Best medium-length documentary and “Nomad Wedding” by Hassan Qahremani won the Best Short Documentary Award as well as the Best Ethnography Award. “One Moment” by Raya Nasiri was selected as the best social documentary and the Best Portrait Documentary Award went to Ahmad Seyyed-Keshmiri for “Big Nothing”. “When the Clouds come down” by Moein Karamaddini was picked as the best religious ritual documentary. The Cinéma Vérité, the Iranian international festival for documentary films, was held from November 6 to 11 in Tehran. A total of 30 films were screened in the international competition section of the festival and the organizers also selected 170 films by Iranian documentarians for the national competition section. The festival highlights films on the Islamic uprisings that have occurred over the past few decades around the world.
