Ahmadinejad directs Culture Ministry to purchase George Jordac’s library
TEHRAN,Jan.18(MNA) – Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad agreed with purchasing the personal library of George Jordac, the Lebanese Christian author of “The Voice of Human Justice”.
The president also assigned the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance to provide the project with the financial resources, Director of the Iran National Library and Archives (INLA) Es’haq Salahi told .
INLA and Tehran Municipality were among the organizers who had announced readiness to buy the collection.
“We have asked Iran’s ambassador and cultural attaché in Lebanon to keep in touch with Jordac and provide us with more detailed information on his library,” INLA deputy director Habibollah Azimi had told in August 2011.
Jordac had stressed that he would prefer that his library is used for cultural purposes and that he would not want book dealers to make a huge profit on the deal.
“Jordac is old and retired now. He has been living with his books in his apartment in Beirut over the past few years. He is not well and has decided to sell his library and to take a rest until the end of his life,” scholar Hojjatoleslam Mohammadreza Zaeri had earlier said.
Written by Jordac, “The Voice of Human Justice” is a biography of the first Imam of the Shiites (AS), which has gained much popularity in the Arab and the Muslim world. Many Muslim and non-Muslim scholars have paid it glowing tributes. The author is an enlightened man of letters and has written the book with genuine sincerity.
