Intl. congress on Persian language opens in Tehran

TEHRAN,Jan.18(MNA) -- The International Congress on Promotion of the Persian Language: Perspective, Solutions and Obstacles opened at the Allameh Tabatabaii University in Tehran on Tuesday. The congress is headed by Abbasali Vafaii and the position of academic secretary of the congress is held by Reza-Morad Sahraii. The two-day congress is scheduled to discuss educational plans for promotion of Persian language, methodology in teaching Persian language to non-Iranian students, explained congress director Abbasali Vafaii during the opening ceremony. The role of Iranian cultural attaché’s office in the promotion of Persian language and also the analyses of achievements of the Council for Promotion of Persian Language and Literature will also be conferred about at the meeting, he added. Vafaii said that the papers presented at the congress have an academic approach toward the promotion of Persian language. Iranian cultural minister Seyyed Mohammad Hosseini, who has travelled to Beirut, sent a message to the congress. The message reads: “Persian language is the identity document of our nation and we should promote it since it is not the language of one nation but the heritage of intellect.” About 250 scholars and professors from several international academic centers from 70 countries are attending the congress.
