Berlin filmfest to host “Modest Reception”

TEHRAN,Jan.21(MNA) -- The Iranian film “Modest Reception” will premiere at the Berlin International Film Festival, which will be running from February 9 to 19. Directed by Mani Haqiqi, the film will be screened in the festival’s International Forum of New Cinema, Forum in short, the organizers announced on Friday. The film, which is described as “an intelligent provocation” by the organizers, is about a rich couple who distribute plastic bags full of money in the Iranian provinces -- a handout aimed purely at degradation. Haqiqi, who also stars in the film, and cast member Taraneh Alidusti will attend the festival to promote the film on February 14. Haqiqi’s previous film “Men at Work” was screened in the Berlin festival in 2006. Iranian celebrated filmmaker Asghar Farhadi is on the festival’s International Jury that is presided over by British director Mike Leigh.
