EU sanctions will get nowhere: IRGC general

TEHRAN, Jan. 28 (MNA) – Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Brigadier General Masoud Jazayeri said that sanctions imposed by the European Union against the Islamic Republic are aimed to place the country under pressure but they will get nowhere. In an interview published on Friday, Jazayeri said, “The EU is seeking to cause a phenomenon called ‘fatigue’ among the officials and the people… but their big mistake is that their assessment of the Iranian society is wrong.” The European Union formally imposed an oil embargo on Iran and agreed to a freeze on the assets of the Central Bank of Iran on Monday, but existing contracts will be honored until July 1.
