No country has right to ask Iran to halt enrichment: Iranian FM

ADDIS ABABA, Ethiopia, Jan. 31 (MNA) – Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi said that no one has the right to ask Iran to halt the uranium enrichment component of its nuclear program. Salehi made the remarks at a news conference on Sunday on the sidelines of an African Union summit in the Ethiopian capital of Addis Ababa when asked whether or not Iran would halt its nuclear enrichment activities if the West offers incentives. “We have the legal right to uranium enrichment, and we pursue it according to the NPT (nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty). No one has the right to ask us to halt uranium enrichment,” Salehi stated. Asked if the visit by International Atomic Energy Agency delegation that arrived in Tehran on Sunday sends a message to the West, Salehi said, “Iran has always fulfilled its commitments to the NPT, and we have nothing to hide. Iran has already answered the agency’s questions.”
