Iranian computer game on lifting siege of Abadan released

TEHRAN,Feb.1(MNA) – An Iranian computer game featuring the break of the month-long siege of the southern city of Abadan in September 1981 during Iran-Iraq war was unveiled during a ceremony on Monday. Entitled “Breaking of the Siege”, the game has been produced in collaboration with Tebyan Cultural and Information Institute. The unveiling ceremony took place at the venue of the Iran National Foundation of Computer Games. The game distributor, Iran Electronic Publications Director Mohammad-Ali Khatibi, Deputy Director of the foundation Mohammad Bitaraf and the Project Manager Elyas Qeytaqi gave brief speeches at the ceremony. “The game was designed two years ago, and is a faithful reflection of the truth,” Qeytaqi said. The game has come out in 50,000 copies across Tehran and different cities, Khatibi said, adding that Sacred Defense (the 1980-88 Iran-Iraq war is known as the Sacred Defense) is a very good issue to focus on for computer games. Bitaraf next said that there has been good collaboration between Tebyan and the foundation and expressed hope to attract more users in the future. He also said that the foundation has focused on games for the youth including the game “Garshasb” which has also been recently distributed in foreign countries as well. Iran National Foundation of Computer Games has previously released the games “Garshasb”, “Nader Sword” and “Mountaineer.”
