Iran will carry out its threats if necessary: Supreme Leader

TEHRAN, Feb. 4 (MNA) -- Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei said that Iran will carry out its own threats in response to the threats of war and oil sanctions should the need arise.
“The Americans must be aware and of course are aware that the Islamic Republic of Iran has threats for facing threats of war and threats of an oil embargo, which will be carried out when necessary through the will of God,” Ayatollah Khamenei told worshippers at this week’s Friday prayers at the campus of the University of Tehran.
U.S. officials have repeatedly said, “All options are on the table” to contain Iran, the Leader said, adding, “The sentence means a threat of war, but everyone knew that such a threat would harm the United States since starting a war would harm the United States ten times more.”
The fact that U.S. officials have been using threatening language indicates their desperation in the face of Iran’s logic, Ayatollah Khamenei stated.
“The U.S. has no logic besides force and knows no way other than war to impose its demands,” he added.
The resort to threats and tyranny has discredited U.S. officials in the eyes of the world’s nations and the people of the United States, Ayatollah Khamenei said, adding, “There is no hope for the survival of a government whose reputation has been ruined in the eyes of its people, and it will face no fate other than destruction and collapse, as the dissolution of the Soviet Union is” proof of this fact.
Elsewhere in his remarks, the Leader advised the Iranian people to not be deceived by the “smile” and “false promises” of the enemies, saying, “They renege on their promises easily; they break their promises; they do not act in line with what they say; they are not ashamed before God; they are not ashamed before God’s creatures; they are not ashamed before the negotiating side; they tell lies easily. I have living proof.
“When the need arises, we will inform the world’s people about the remarks the Americans made, (what) the U.S. president said, the letter he wrote, their reaction, and what they did with the content of the letters.”
