Derambakhsh to open “Happiness Agency” at Seyhun

TEHRAN,Feb.14(MNA) -- Renowned cartoonist Kambiz Derambakhsh will be displaying his collection of cartoons on music in an exhibition opening Friday at Tehran’s Seyhun Gallery. Entitled “Happiness Agency”, the cartoons center on music, musicians, and musical instruments. “Happiness Agency” is the continuation of the cartoons on music I previously published in the book “The Symphony of Lines”. The book is comprised of a selection of artworks published in the foreign press over the past 25 years, he wrote in his note about his exhibition. “Whether we like it or not, music is always with us from the time we are born, in the wedding ceremonies or in funerals, on TV, radio, cinema, theater and opera, taxi and bus and from many, many more sources. ‘“Happiness Agency’ is driven from the endless source of inspiration within me, a small part of which will go on show in this exhibit,” the note concluded. The exhibit will be opening on February 17 and will run until February 29 at the gallery located at 30 Fourth Alley, off Vozara St. Known for his talent to find obscure themes for his creations, Derambakhsh has worked as a cartoonist, a graphic designer, and an illustrator for over 50 years. Derambakhsh has won many awards at international competitions including the grand prize at an Istanbul competition in 1990, the grand prize at Japan’s Yomiuri Shimbun competition in 1998, the grand prize of a contest in Sao Paulo, Brazil in 1998, and the grand prize of a Polish anti-war caricature contest in 2002.
