Sean Ali Stone ready to act in Iranian film
TEHRAN,Feb.16(MNA) -- The son of U.S. filmmaker Oliver Stone, Sean, who converted to Islam and chose the name Ali on Tuesday in Iran, will likely appear in an Iranian film, director Ali Shah-Hatami announced on Wednesday.
Stone has expressed interest in the project after receiving a proposal to act in it, Shah-Hatami told .
“However, the final negotiations will start in the near future,” he added.
Tentatively titled “The Accused”, the film project will describe the problems facing Iranians and Muslims in the United States, Ali Shah-Hatami told .
“The film’s plot is about a young Iranian man who leaves the country to pursue academic studies in the United States. But, he faces serious problems when he is seen at a place where an American tycoon is murdered,” he said.
Stone will play the lead role in the film that is scheduled to be produced by Jalal Chavoshian.
Ninety-five percent of the project, which is expected to be completed by July, will be shot in Canada.
Stone converted to Islam at the office of Shia cleric Ayatollah Mohammad Nasseri Dowlatabadi in the city of Isfahan.
“The conversion to Islam is not abandoning Christianity or Judaism, with which I was born. It means I have accepted Muhammad (S) and other prophets,” Stone, whose famous father is Jewish and mother is Christian, told AFP.
Stone came to Iran in early February to attend the 30th Fajr International Film Festival, which ended on Sunday.
In September 2011, he visited some officials at Iran’s Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance in Tehran to do the groundwork for a documentary.
