An efficient parliament can set country back on path of moderation: Iranian MP

TEHRAN,Feb.18(MNA) – Iranian Deputy Majlis Speaker Mohammad Reza Bahonar said that Iran’s next parliament can pull the country back on the path of moderation if the people elect lawmakers tactfully.
The next parliamentary election is scheduled to be held on March 2.
“It seems that certain extremist and, on occasion, ill-advised measures taken in the country’s executive system have created many problems for the country,” Bahonar wrote in the February 16 editorial in the Iranian daily newspaper Tehran-e Emrooz.
He added, “I believe that the time for trial and error in running the country is over, and the country’s management system should be set back on the track of moderation. And the people can pave the way for the realization of this important issue through wise selection and can seriously demand it from their elected representatives.
“As the Supreme Leader stated in his recent historic sermons during Friday prayers in an address to Muslim brothers who have risen against subservient governments, a logical and moderate Islam should prevail.”
The MP also wrote, “I maintain that the next Majlis can bring the country back on the path of moderation through the people’s tact and can use all the potential synergistically to help the country progress, and this would be realized through a massive turnout, and a competent and moderate Majlis loyal to” the principle of velayat-e faqih (rule of the supreme jurisprudent) would be established.
