Iranian MP unhappy with reformists’ decision on election

TEHRAN, Feb. 20 (MNA) – Lawmaker Ali Motahari complained of reformists who have not “actively” entered the race for the parliamentary election. “They could participate in the election and seek their demands through the ninth Majlis (next parliament),” Motahari told on Sunday. He said reformists argue that they opted out of the election race because the Guardian Council had not allowed them to run for parliament. However, he said, it was better that reformists had fielded their candidacy and if they were barred they would have said that they did their duty but were not given the chance to run. “This is much better than sitting aside and allow extremist group take the control of the ninth Majlis and then cry out why this happened.” He said the people like their country be managed collectively and do not like this “idea” that if anybody made a criticism in the events that followed the 2009 presidential election be designated “unwise” and he should “get off the train of revolution”.
