Docs on Iran’s occupation by Allies on display in Tehran

TEHRAN,Feb.25(MNA) -- Copies of a collection of documents about Iran’s occupation by the Allies during World War II has been showcased in an exhibition at the Iran National Library and Archives (INLA) in Tehran. The collection comprises 114 documents on political, economic, cultural and health categories. The exhibition opened on Thursday on the sidelines of a one-day conference, which discussed Iran under the Allied occupation during World War II. The conference and the exhibit were organized to document the damages caused by the occupation in Iran, INLA official Nasrin Negahban said. A statement, which was issued by the Iranian government to announce Iran’s neutrality during World War II, is one of the major documents on display at the weeklong exhibition. Some of the documents refer the Polish immigration to Iran. The health organization of the Iranian government had asked Iranian people to keep away from the camps of the Polish migrants due to communicable diseases. The exhibit also includes documents about the arrest of managers of some Persian newspapers and periodicals, famine and starvation. Over the past few years, Iran has organized many conferences and exhibitions on Iran’s occupation by the Allies during World War II. Several high-ranking officials in President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad administration have previously said that they are compiling documents to demand compensation from the Allies for the violation of Iran’s neutrality during World War II.
