West seeking to change governing system of Iran: Russian PM

TEHRAN, Feb. 26 (MNA) – Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said that the United States is using the issue of Iran’s nuclear program as a pretext for change of the governing system of the country. “Under the guise of trying to prevent the spread of weapons of mass destruction they (the Americans) are attempting something else entirely and setting different goals - regime change,” Putin stated, RT reported on Saturday. The Russian prime minister pointed out that U.S. foreign policy, including that in the Middle East, is expensive, inefficient, and largely unpredictable. Russia has repeatedly advised the United States and its allies to stop issuing threats against the Islamic Republic. Putin also reiterated Moscow’s opposition to foreign interference in Syria, emphasizing that the Syrian themselves should help resolve the situation.
