Lebanon keen to increase defense cooperation with Iran

TEHRAN, Feb. 27 (MNA) – During a meeting with Iranian Defense Minister in Tehran on Sunday, Lebanese Minister of National Defense Fayez Ghosn thanked the Islamic Republic for the stance it has adopted toward Lebanon, particularly during Lebanon’s 33-day war with Israel in 2006, and Iran’s offer to strengthen his country’s army. He also expressed hope that cooperation between the two countries would increase. Commenting on the situation in Syria, the Lebanese defense minister said that the pressure exerted on Syria is due to its opposition to the Zionist regime.
