Iranian foundation to laud studies on Ferdowsi

TEHRAN,Feb.27(MNA) -- Iran’s Ferdowsi Foundation has established an award that will be given annually to a best study of the year on the Persian epic poet Abolqasem Ferdowsi. The award has been named after Professor Hossein Aqabozorg, one of the founding fathers of the Ferdowsi Foundation who died in February 2011, the foundation announced in a press release on Saturday. Member of the Institute of Iranian Studies at the Austrian Academy of Sciences Nosratollah Rastegar, professor of Iranian studies at the Sapienza University of Rome Carlo Cereti and Iran’s Association for Preservation and Purification of Persian Language Director Ziaeddian Hajari are among the jury members for the award. Ferdowsi Foundation Director Mohammad-Hossein Tusivand and foundation General Secretary Yasser Movahhedfar are the other members of the panel. The first edition of the award ceremony will be held at the Academic Center for Education, Culture and Research in Tehran at 14:00 p.m. on March 6. A number of experts on Ferdowsi and his Shahnameh will also be honored on the sideline of the ceremony.
