Yemeni vote can hardly be called ‘election’, Iranian legislator says

TEHRAN, Feb. 28 (MNA) – Iranian MP Alaeddin Boroujerdi said on Monday that the Yemeni people, hundreds of whom have been martyred during the pro-democracy protests in the country, will not be satisfied until a democratic government gain power in the country.
Yemenis voted on February 21 to instate their U.S.-backed vice president as the new head of state, AP reported.
The vote can hardly be called an election as Vice President Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi was the only candidate, Boroujerdi said.
He added that it was, however, a great step toward the ending of Ali Abdullah Saleh’s dictatorship.
