Symphony on Ferdowsi unveiled
TEHRAN,Feb.28(MNA) -- An album entitled the Ferdowsi Symphony, which has been composed by Shahin Farhat, was unveiled during a ceremony at Tehran’s Art Bureau.
The music center of Tehran’s Bureau had earlier promised to give full support to distribute the symphony in Iran after it was recorded in the Ukraine, the Persian service of Fars reported on Monday.
Director of the Music College of Faculty of Fine Art Dariush Talaii, who was present at the ceremony, regarded the symphony as the best means to take the manifestation of the Iranian spirit beyond the borders.
“Ferdowsi’s Shahnameh is an epic, but the symphony is quite different with Shahnameh; it mostly centers on Ferdowsi himself not the poetry,” Talaii commented.
“Maestro Farhat has beautifully made use of western musical instruments to compose an Iranian symphony and merge it with our culture,” he added.
Farhat next said that his great interest in classical music and homeland melodies made him compose the symphony for the world.
“This is one of the defining characteristics of Persian melodies which has attained a high position for itself among national music in the world,” he said.
Farhat also requested that officials provide the facilities to broadcast these types of symphonies at international airports to familiarize non-Iranians with Persian music.
“The Ferdowsi Symphony contains four movements adapted from Shahnameh. It features the major characters of Shahnameh and their charged emotions. Rustam is described with his sense of prominence and Siavash with pride, for example,” Farhat had said earlier in an interview with Fars.
The characters in Shahnameh come from a fantasy world and that he has made use of melodic music in depicting this fantasy, he had noted.
Born in 1947 in Tehran, Shahin Farhat is an Iranian composer and is currently a professor of music at the University of Tehran.
Farhat has composed over eighty works including the symphonies “Iranian Lady”, “Damavand”, “Persian Gulf”, “Muhammad (S)”, “Martyrs” and “Iran”.
