Turkish deputy pm says budgetary measures necessary for permanent solutions

ISTANBUL (A.A) - February 28, 2012 - Turkey's deputy prime minister said on Wednesday that budgetary measures were necessary for permanent economic solutions. Ali Babacan said permanent solutions to global economy could only be found by steps to be taken by governments. "Many countries need significant budgetary measures for a permanent solution," Babacan said during Arab-Turkish Banking and Finance Forum in Istanbul. Babacan said particularly developed countries needed to take such steps rapidly. The world was undergoing a critical process, and governments should not trust temporary economic reliefs, Babacan said. Babacan said parliaments should take necessary steps in developed countries. Moreover, Babacan said a fair and lasting peace and stability in the Middle East was one of Turkey's prior regional policies. "Prosperity cannot be restored without peace, and peace cannot be restored without stability and justice, and we think global peace cannot be ensured without regional stability," Babacan said. Babacan said Turkey believed that a cooperation and common understanding based on fundamental values and principles should be ensured. The minister said Turkey was exerting efforts to restore peace particulary in its region, and had tried hard for active solution of problems with its neighbors. "However, we have not condoned to injustice, oppression, clashes, massacre, poverty, injustice in distribution of income and injustice in either our region or the world," Babacan said. Babacan said Turkey had always defended rights of people without discriminating among them in regard to religion, or color or anything they owned like mines, oil or diamonds.  The minister said dialogue, compromise, peace, human rights and laws were Turkey's fundamental principles, and Turkey had the same perspective on all developments in the Middle East. "The Middle East and North Africa are undergoing a process of no return. Change and democratic transformation have become indispensable for all regional countries," he said. Babacan also said every country had its own peculiar characteristics, and therefore changes in every country could differ.
