Distinguished Iranian calligraphers of Holy Quran hold exhibit in Tehran

TEHRAN,March 3(MNA) -- An exhibition of calligraphy by distinguished Iranian calligraphers of the Holy Quran opened at Tehran’s Imam Khomeini Mosalla here on Thursday. A selection of 40 eminent calligraphers expert on naskh style of calligraphy have displayed a collection of about 100 works at the exhibit, an official in charge of the exhibit Mehdi Babaii told on the opening day. Deputy Culture Minister for Artistic Affairs Hamid Shahabadi who was also attending the opening ceremony remarked that a precisely guided project is required to organize the inscription of verses from the Holy Quran. “Inscription of the verses not only serves the Holy Quran but also centers on the history of the art of calligraphy,” he said. “In our Islamic society people think of serving the Holy Quran; each individual is trying to do it in his own career,” he added. Shahabadi added that he will make all efforts to help promote calligraphy of the Holy Quran, “We are ready to educate, develop, publish or hold all types of exhibits related to the Holy Quran.” Babaii who is the executive director of the Calligraphy House of the Quran Publishing Center continued that the house was established in the Mosalla to organize calligraphy of Holy Quran. The Calligraphy House was established in May 2011 aiming to recognize the experts on naskh and sols styles across the country. Babaii added that the experts on sols style of calligraphy are also due to hold an exhibition in the near future.
