Obama has partially left his delusions about Iran: Supreme Leader

TEHRAN, March 10 (MNA) -- Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei said that U.S. President Barack Obama has partially left his delusions about Iran. The Leader made the remarks during a meeting with the members of the Assembly of Experts in Tehran on Thursday. “Two days ago, we heard that the U.S. president said, ‘We do not think of war against Iran.’ Well, this is good. This is a logical remark. This is an exit from delusion. In addition, he said, ‘We will bring the Iranian people to their knees through sanctions.’ This is a delusion. The exit from delusion in the first part is good, but remaining in delusion in the second part will harm them. When one’s calculations are based on delusion, it is obvious that the planning he makes based on those calculations will end in failure,” Ayatollah Khamenei stated. On March 6, the U.S. president said that the next round of talks between Iran and the 5+1 group (the United States, Britain, France, Russia, China, and Germany), which is expected to be held in the near future, should help calm the “drums of war” against Iran and added that there is still a “window of opportunity” to use diplomacy in dealing with Iran. However, Obama also said that the imposition of sanctions on Iran is useful. Ayatollah Khamenei added, “Since 33 years ago, the enemies’ bloc, particularly the United States, has imposed sanctions on the Iranian nation and has intensified them over the past year with the aim of creating a rift between the people and the Islamic establishment, but everyone saw the people’s votes and their loyalty to the Islamic system on Esfand 12 (March 2).” “The votes of the absolute majority of the people in the ninth Majlis election were in fact a vote for the principle of the Islamic establishment and showed their absolute trust in the system, and, like an awakening slap, woke up to reality those who were under a delusion about the principle of the system, its future, and the people,” he noted. Prior to Ayatollah Khamenei’s address, Assembly of Experts Chairman Ayatollah Mohammad Reza Mahdavi Kani delivered a speech in which he thanked the people for turning out in large numbers for the parliamentary election. Assembly of Experts Deputy Chairman Ayatollah Mohammad Yazdi also delivered a speech and briefed the Leader on the meeting that the members of the assembly held from March 6 to 7.
