Iranian band Lian to perform in Gothenburg

TEHRAN,March 13(MNA) -- The Iranian music band Lian from the southern city of Bushehr will be giving a performance on March 15 in Gothenburg, Sweden. They had their first performance in Gothenburg on Monday March 12. Conducted by Mohsen Sharifian, the band is famous for performing with the ney-anban (Iranian bagpipe) and gave a new style of performance inspired by the regional music of Bushehr. Saturday March 10, was named the first ever International Bagpipe Day, a day to celebrate the world’s bagpipes and piping traditions. The day was celebrated in Britain, Europe and beyond. The Bagpipe Society was formed in 1986 to bring together players, makers, researchers and people who love bagpipes to encourage more people to take up bagpipes.
