Iranian films to compete in U.S. festival

TEHRAN,March 15(MNA) -- Two Iranian films will go on screen at the 36th Cleveland International Film Festival which will be held from March 22 to April 1. The acclaimed films “Here without Me” by Bahram Tavakkoli and “Mourning” by Morteza Farshbaf will compete at the event. “Here without Me” is a striking family drama based on Tennessee Williams’ “The Glass Menagerie”. The film is set in the confines of a troubled household in modern Tehran. The movie “Mourning” is about a couple’s heated quarrel that results in them both driving away mad in the middle of the night. They abandon their son, leaving him with his aunt and uncle. It isn’t until morning that the aunt and uncle learn of the death of the young boy’s parents after a tragic car accident. The Cleveland International Film Festival is a leader in helping the world to discover the power of the film arts to educate, entertain and celebrate the human experience.
