Arab language panel discusses action plan

Dubai, Sept 3, 2012 WAM- His Highness Sheikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, received the chairman and members of the Arabic Language Charter Development Committee on Sunday at the Emirates Towers in Dubai. Last year, Sheikh Mohammad had ordered the formation of an international committee of experts to promote Arabic as the language of science and technology. During the meeting attended by Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince, and Sheikh Maktoum Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammad discussed with the head of the committee, Dr Farouk Al Baz, the committee’s action plan which targets reforms in terms of teaching and learning of Arabic in schools and universities. Sheikh Mohammad urged the committee members to call on their knowledge and expertise to identify innovative solutions that would help realise the objectives of the initiative. Also present were Abdul Rahman Mohammad Al Owais, Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development, and other senior officials. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
