Iraq promised to expel MKO from its soil soon: Iranian envoy

TEHRAN,Nov.6(MNA) – Iranian Ambassador Hassan Danaiifar said on Sunday that the Iraqi government has promised to expel the members of the terrorist Mojahedin Khalq Organization (MKO) from its soil as soon as possible. Danaiifar said, “The members of the terrorist group are going through the process of filling the forms of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, and we are waiting for them to leave Iraqi soil as soon as possible.” MKO members are now living in Camp Liberty (Hurriya), a former U.S. military base near Baghdad. They were relocated from Camp New Iraq (Camp Ashraf) to Camp Liberty in seven groups during this year. The relocation of the group was part of an agreement reached between the United Nations and the Iraqi government in last December. In reply to another question about the Iraqi government’s move to inspect an Iranian plane bound for Syria, Danaiifar said the move showed that the baseless claims made against the Islamic Republic are only aimed at conducting propaganda campaign against the country. On October 28, the Iraqi government stopped an Iranian flight bound for Syria to check for possible shipment of weapons to Syria and found nothing. Danaiifar added that the move was contrary to the agreements signed between the two countries, and Iran hopes that it will not happen again. The search by the Iraqi government was the second carried out in October.
