Humanitarian policy hailed

Abu Dhabi, Dec 11, 2012 (WAM) - Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, Adviser to the President, His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, said that the UAE has a long history in the charitable and humanitarian work at the local, regional and international levels. “The UAE did not adopt the policy of humanitarian help for ostentation or for record in aid monitors, but because it believed in the value and importance of humanitarian work, especially as it is the heart of our religion which urged us to do good without waiting for mundane rewards,” he said. Sheikh Sultan was giving a statement on the occasion of his winning of the Hamdan Award for Distinct Personality of the Year in the medical field. Dr Sheikh Sultan is a winner of Hamdan Award for Honouring Individuals Working in the Field of Medicine and Health in recognition of his effective role in the humanitarian works and in supporting scientific research. He added: “When UAE extends its hands of help, it puts the human being the first and the last, regardless of any other considerations and this is proven anywhere the UAE’s aid has reached” - Emirates News Agency, WAM
