Honda's April-Sept. Global Output Up 2.9 Pct

Tokyo, Oct. 27 (Jiji Press)--Honda Motor Co. <7267> said Monday its
global automobile production in April-September rose 2.9 pct from a year before to 1,966,778 units, setting a record for the fiscal first half.

Domestic production declined 4.9 pct to 605,934 units, while
overseas output increased 6.8 pct to 1,360,844 units, the major Japanese
automaker said.
Vehicle sales in Japan edged up 0.1 pct to 292,180 units, logging
the first rise in three years. Exports dropped 7.9 pct to 320,694 units, the
first fall in five years, Honda said.
In September alone, Honda's production worldwide grew 9.6 pct to
360,453 units, the first increase in two months.
Domestic output was up 5.9 pct at 118,631 units, and overseas
production was up 11.5 pct at 241,822 units.
Sales in Japan declined 2.4 pct from a year before to 59,135 units,
the first drop in three months, while exports were up 2.0 pct at 59,715
units, showing the first increase in five months.
