NIHR condemns terrorist attack in Manama

Manama, Feb. 9 – (BNA): The National Institution of Human Rights (NIHR) condemned the terrorist attack on Saturday (February 7) that targeted on-duty policemen on Isa Al Khabeer Avenue in Mukharqa. Three policemen were injured, one of them seriously, in the attack with Molotov cocktail bombs hurled by a group of rioters. The Institution issued a statement in which it said that on Saturday it monitored that 3 policemen had been injured in the line of duty as they secured streets in the said area in Manama. The Institution has expressed its denunciation of such illegal acts which targeted the lives of security men in a bid to destabilise national stability and security, scare citizens and residents, threaten civic peace and aimed to cause deprivation from and negative impact on human rights and freedoms. The Institution called on all community individuals to be alert and uphold national unity as well as shun violence of all sorts and manifestations, ideology, practice and to condemn this terrorist attack and to exercise self-restraint and boost the values of peaceful co-existence between the various denominations and components of the Bahraini people. The Institution urged the relevant authorities to undertake their duty of opening investigation into the incident and to hold accountable the culprits according to the principle of non-circumvention from retribution, wishing those injured quick healing and health.
