New truck flow procedures announced

Manama, Apr7(BNA)A new procedure will take effect soon to ease the truck congestion at King Fahd Causeway as part of efforts to avert bottlenecks and ensure the smooth flow of lorries. Customs Affairs President Shaikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Khalifa announced the measures as he met King Fahad Causeway Authority (KFCA) Director-General Abdulrahman bin Saad Al-Yahya. Loaded trucks will leave Khalifa Seaport and head to the fee-paying gate at the King Fahd Causeway. Drivers will then have to stop their loaded lorries at Al-Janabiya park until they are allowed access to Saudi Arabia through the new entrance gate. "We hope the new streamlined measure will help reduce the truck congestions and ensure the smooth movement of traffic", said Shaikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Khalifa. Under the existing procedures, loaded and unloaded trucks head to Janabiya Causeway and proceed to the weighing section before reaching the Saudi customs, which disrupts the traffic and causes truck congestions on Janabiya Highway.
