Crown Prince meets Governor of Saint Petersburg and praises steady growth of Bahrain - Russia cooperation

Manama, Apr. 26 (BNA): His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister today met the Governor of the Russian city of Saint Petersburg, His Excellency Georgy Poltavchenko and his accompanying delegation, at Gudaibiya Palace. During the meeting, His Royal Highness praised the broad range of coordination and cooperation that exists between Bahrain and the Russian Federation, saying that it forms the foundations of bilateral relations between the two countries. His Royal Highness noted the productive exchange of visits between Bahrain and Russia, including the recent visit to Russia by His Majesty King Hamad to meet President Vladimir Putin. In this regard, His Royal Highness stressed the importance of pursuing and supporting the agreements and MOUs signed during the visits, which contribute to further strengthening cooperation across various sectors. The meeting also included discussions on strengthening security cooperation in order to combat terrorism, during which His Royal Highness stressed Bahrain’s support to all constructive efforts to maintain security and stability, and noted Russia’s continued role in this regard. In response, His Excellency Poltavchenko expressed gratitude for the opportunity to meet His Royal Highness, and welcomed the Crown Prince’s support in strengthening cooperation with Saint Petersburg through the existing Bahrain-Russia ties. The Governor of the Capital governorate, Shaikh Hisham bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa, also attended the meeting.
