Thai, Russian PMs to discuss better cooperation

ST PETERSBURG, May 18 (TNA) -- Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha arrived in Saint Petersburg in the evening of May 17 and would meet his Russian counterpart to discuss the expansion of cooperation between the two countries that will celebrate the 120th anniversary of their diplomatic ties next year. For his official visit to Russia set on May 17-19, Gen Prayut who is also the chief of the National Council for Peace and Order landed in Saint Petersburg where the bilateral ties started when King Rama V arrived there in his first trip to Europe. In the morning of May 18 Gen Prayut was set to pay respect at a military memorial of Saint Petersburg and opened the Thailand – Russia Business Dialogue at the Four Seasons Lion Palace hotel where he stays. In the afternoon Gen Prayut was scheduled to meet Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev. Then both would witness the signing of bilateral agreements and have a joint press conference. The Russian prime minister who is a native of Saint Petersburg would host a dinner for Gen Prayut today. (TNA)
