Abdullah, Ki-Moon review current regional and global events
Abu Dhabi, February 4, 2009 (WAM) - H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Foreign Minister, yesterday highlighted efforts the UN is making to achieve stability, peace and security in various parts of the world.
Sheikh Abdullah made his remarks during talks with visiting UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon at the Emirates Palace yesterday.
As he expressed his delight at meeting Sheikh Abdullah, the UN chief said the UAE is among the key donors and contributors to UN programmes and activities.
The meeting reviewed the latest developments at the regional and international scene with emphasis on the Palestinian Cause and the Middle East peace process, as well as situation in Iraq. UN efforts to bring about peace in regions locked in conflicts and tensions were also touched during the meeting.
Later, Sheikh Abdullah hosted a dinner banquet in honour of the UN Secretary General and his accompanying delegation.
