Pakistani President visits ADEWA
Abu Dhabi, February 5, 2009 (WAM) - Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari visited yesterday the Abu Dhabi Electricity and Water Authority (ADEWA), where he was received by Chairman of ADEWA HH Sheikh Diab bin Zayed.
Zardari thanked President HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, for his kind gesture of donating power station with capacity of 320 megawatt to Pakistan, adding that the move was part of the efforts to assist Pakistani people to overcome the energy crisis.
On his part, Diab said the UAE under its leadership assists friends, notably the Pakistani people, indicating that "Sheikh Khalifa's gesture is not new". He cited the depth of relations between the UAE and Pakistan.
Sheikh Diab and Pakistani Minister of Water and Power Raja Pervez Ashraf signed the Memorandum of Understanding, on the UAE's donation of the power plant to Pakistan.
After the signing ceremony, Zardari and Sheikh Diab toured the Abu Dhabi Power Production plant, where they were briefed about its operation. Zardari expressed his admiration about the developmental programmes of the ADWEA.
Sheikh Diab presented a memento of the Sheikh Zayed Mosque's image to the Pakistani President.
