Ban Ki-moon hails UAE's humanitarian role
Abu Dhabi, February 5, 2009 (WAM) - UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon hailed today UAE's support to various UN programmes and humanitarian projects.
In an exclusive interview with the Al Arabiya television channel, the world's top diplomat said that UAE, being a major member in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and a partner in the Arab Peace Initiative has made substantial contribution towards achieving peace and stability.
Ban Ki-Moon said that he has worked with UAE Foreign Minister HH Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan for reaching suitable solutions for a number of issues.
UAE has started to play more important roles on the political and diplomatic levels at various international forums. Along with its economic development, UAE also became a generous donor in the international community, Ban Ki-moon noted.
