Mohammed bin Zayed meets President of Ireland

Abu Dhabi, February 5, 2009 (WAM) - General H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces met yesterday with President Mary McAleese of Ireland and discussed with her ways to boost ties of friendship and cooperation in all fields.
Sheikh Mohammed welcomed the Irish President, saying that her visit to the UAE represented an opportunity for furthering cooperation between the two countries, particularly in economic, social, educational and healthcare domains.
A dinner banquet was hosted in honour of the President of Ireland during which, the two sides exchanged views on the need to strengthen bilateral cooperation and to boost the roles of private sectors in the two countries.
Also discussed were the impacts of the global financial crisis, the importance of continuing efforts for peace, security and stability in the region and allowing humanitarian and relief organisations to offer aid and to ease the plight of the Palestinian people.
President Mary McAleese said she was satisfied with the level of her country's ties with the UAE. She added that Ireland was eager to bolster economic and scientific cooperation with the UAE.
She also praised the progress made by the UAE in all fields, thanks to the wise policies of its leadership.
