UAE VP holds talks with Irish President

Dubai, February 5, 2009 (WAM) - Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai H. H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and visiting President of Ireland Mary McAleese exchanged views on a host of issues dealing with knowledge, tourism, and joint investment.
Causes and consequences of the international financial crisis and its impact on Ireland whose economy is closely interlinked with major markets in Britain and US were also discussed.
The Irish head of state termed the UAE economy and its financial and banking system as resilient and remains firm against global changes thanks to the wise vision and sound analyses and reading of the crunch by its leadership.
According to her, this far-sighted vision has mitigated the shock of the crisis on the development plans and investors in the UAE.
Sheikh Mohammed hosted a luncheon in honour of the Irish president and her accompanying delegation.
