IDEX 2009 to incorporate special focus on homeland security
Abu Dhabi, February 7, 2009 (WAM) - Reflecting the increased global spending on the HLS-HLD segment (Homeland Security, Homeland Defence and Counter Terror Intelligence), the 9th International Defence Exhibition and Conference (IDEX 2009) being held in Abu Dhabi from February 22 to 26 incorporates a special focus on homeland security.
Border and perimeter security; aviation and maritime security; critical infrastructure security; Radio-Frequency Identification (RFID), biometrics and people screening, Chemical, Biological and Radiological Nuclear (CBRN) defence; and first responder and counter-terror intelligence, are among the homeland 11 percent of exhibitors at IDEX will showcase specialist homeland/internal security, sensing and protection systems and equipment. Amongst these specialists are local exhibitors including Al Jaber Group and Falcon Eye Technology LLC from the United Arab Emirates, and a wealth of international companies including Daewoo International, South Korea; Raytheon, USA; SAGEM, France and UKRSPETSEXPORT State Company, Ukraine.
"National security has emerged at the top of the planning agenda for both governments and the private sector globally. As show organisers, it is our intention to continuously reflect the changing requirements in the defence landscape and we are therefore pleased to incorporate a special emphasis at this IDEX, of technology and equipment for national security," said Mohamed Al Mashgouni, IDEX 2009 Show Director.
Al Mashgouni said HLS-HLD (Homeland Security, Homeland Defence and Counter Terror Intelligence) will remain a top priority on the agenda of government and private sector plans in the whole world. "As organisers of IDEX 2009 we are determined to continuously reflect the new developments in the defence sector. That is why we are pleased to focus this time on national security technologies and equipment during the current IDEX," he added.
Besides homeland security, IDEX will also feature land, sea and air vehicles and systems, radar, electronic warfare and electro-optic systems, weapons and ordnance, C4ISR, simulation and training, logistics, medical and survival systems and personal equipment.
More than 900 companies from 48 countries will be participating in IDEX 2009 which is expected to attract more than 40,000 visitors.
