Bilateral ties with UK reach new high: India

London, Feb 7 (PTI) India has said that its bilateral
ties with Britain have reached a new high and expressed
satisfaction at the strategic partnership that has developed
over the last few years, as the two countries discussed
bilateral and global issues here.

During the Foreign Office Consultations held between the
two countries here, both sides discussed bilateral and global
issues and those pertaining to Europe and the Indian
sub-continent.

They also discussed the current global financial meltdown
and reform of International financial Institutions, the G-20
Summit and Climate Change.

"Both sides expressed their happiness at the positive
growth in bilateral relations between India and the UK and
satisfaction at the strategic partnership which has developed
between the two countries over the last few years," the High
Commission said in a press release.

The Indian delegation was led by Foreign Secretary Shiv
Shankar Menon and the British delegation was led by Permanent
Undersecretary Sir Peter Ricketts.

Menon also met Lord Malloch-Brown, Minister for Asia,
Africa and the UN.

The last Foreign Office Consultations were held in New
Delhi on September 5, 2007. PTI
