UAE Envoy attends US-UAE business council reception in honour of Etihad's US expansion
Washington, February 10, 2009 (WAM) - The US-UAE Business Council hosted a reception in honour of James Hogan, Chief Executive Officer of Etihad Airways.
The event, held in occasion of Mr. Hogan's recent visit to Washington, DC and in honour of the airline's recently announced US expansion, was attended by HE Yousef Al Otaiba, UAE Ambassador to the US, as well as senior business and political leaders.
Etihad Airways, the national airline of the UAE, recently announced the launch of a new nonstop flight from Abu Dhabi to Chicago's O'Hare International Airport, set to begin in September 2009. The new flight builds on Etihad's existing daily nonstop service between New York's JFK Airport and Abu Dhabi International Airport.
"Etihad is the fastest growing airline in the world, and its recent unprecedented aircraft order, which included up to $9 billion for US-manufactured Boeing aircraft, was a significant contribution to the US economy," said US-UAE Business Council President Danny Sebright in his welcoming remarks.
Hogan also addressed the crowd during the reception, praising the UAE-US bilateral relationship and outlining Etihad's vision for continued growth and world-class service.
With the addition of Etihad's nonstop Chicago-Abu Dhabi flight, the number of US cities with nonstop service to the United Arab Emirates will total seven (New York, Washington, DC, Atlanta, Houston, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Chicago).
