New media law a step forward: Chairman of EHRS
Abu Dhabi, February 10, 2009 (WAM) - The Emirates Human Rights Society EHRS) does not see any kind of human rights violations in the new draft media law, Abdul Ghaffar Hussein, Chairman of EHRS said.
In his statement to Al Khaleej daily, Hussein described the draft law as "a new step forward", noting that it is better than the previous one.
"The new law, in its details, is not different from those implemented in other GCC countries." Hussein added.
He noted that some EHRS members have signed on the petition to stop the new media law in a move that reflects their personal attitude.
