Khalifa, Suleiman stress significance for reconciliation, Arab solidarity

Abu Dhabi, February 12, 2009 (WAM) - President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan and visiting Lebanese President Michel Sulaiman have underlined the need for Arab reconciliation and solidarity to settle the Palestinian problem in the light of recent Kuwait summit resolutions.
The two leaders reiterated in the meeting yesterday the significance of the Middle East peace process and Arab and international moves to set up the Palestinian state and realisation of peace in the region.
They emphasised their keenness in promoting joint cooperation between the two countries in different fields.
Sheikh Khalifa said that the UAE is keen to boost joint Arab work through consultation and coordination. He pledged that utmost efforts would be exerted to restore Arab solidarity to confront current challenges.
The Lebanese president hailed the sustained support of the UAE to the Lebanese people in different humanitarian and developmental fields, highlighting the UAE stance in regard to the joint Arab work and solidarity. He expressed his pleasure about visiting the UAE and meeting Sheikh Khalifa.
At the end of the talks, Sheikh Khalifa hosted a banquet in honour of Sulaiman and the delegation accompanying him.
Earlier, Sulaiman arrived in Abu Dhabi on a two-day official visit to the UAE and was received on arrival by Sheikh Khalifa.
Sheikh Khalifa also greeted the delegation accompanying him including Lebanese Foreign Affairs and Emigrants Minister Fawzi Salloukh.
