Farhadi wins Berlinale`s best director award for `About Elly`

Berlin, Feb 15, IRNA - The Berlinale's best director award went Saturday to Iranian
director Asghar Farhadi's 'Darbareye Elly' (About Elly).

"I am very happy to have received this prize which is very important
for me as well as for the Iranian cinema," Farhadi told the private
3sat broadcasting
television network after receiving the 'Silver Bear' of the 59th Berlinale.
He added his movie portrayed "realistically" the Iran's middle class.
Farhardi criticized the West for having what he termed an "incorrect"
image of Iranian cinema.
'Darbareye Elly' made its debut at the prestigious Berlin Film
Festival,featuring Golshifteh Farahani, Taraneh Alidousti und Mani
Haghighi.
Iranian movies have won top awards at the Berlin Film Fest in recent years.
Reza Najie received the best acting prize of the 58th Berlin Film
Festival for his performance in Majid Majidi's light poignant comedy
'The Song of Sparrows' (Avaze Gonjeshk-Ha).
Three years ago, Iranian film director Jafar Panahi got the 'Silver
Bear' award
at the Berlinale for 'Offside'.
